Park Ridge convenience store robbed, cash taken

An armed robber held up a Park Ridge convenience store early Friday, police said.

The robbery occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven store at 814 Higgins Road.

The thief entered the store with the gun, confronted an employee and demanded money from the register, police said in a news release.

After collecting an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled on foot, headed east, police said.

The suspect was about 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and clear plastic gloves, police said.
