Elmhurst Brewing’s revitalized Crafts & Drafts Handmade Market returns April 13

Elmhurst Brewing recently announced the revitalization of its beloved Crafts & Drafts Handmade Market with an innovative new plan and a shift to Saturdays.

The first date for this event will be April 13.

In collaboration with Alissa Harris of the Streetz Artz Alliance, the brewery aims to offer patrons an enhanced experience of curated artisanal goods paired with delectable brunch options and a relaxed atmosphere.

Previously hosted on Sundays, the market is now set to take place on specific Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing guests to enjoy the brewery’s renowned brunch menu until 2:30 p.m. while indulging in a sit-and-shop event. The change in schedule promises a fresh perspective for both vendors and attendees.

This year’s market is curated by Harris, marking her debut as the event organizer of the Streetz Artz Alliance. With a keen eye for artistry and craftsmanship, Harris is excited to present a diverse mix of talented artists to the event’s patrons.

“I’m excited for all of the newer artists that have never done Elmhurst Brewing before,” Harris said. “And for my first event curating and organizing ever this Saturday!”

Specifically, nine of the artists are brand new to the venue.

Furthermore, Elmhurst Brewing welcomed a new head brewer, Jake Brady, back in August 2023. With an extensive background at Penrose Brewing and a degree in biology with coursework in engineering and biochemistry, Brady brings a wealth of expertise and creativity to the brewery.

One of his recent creations, “Dad Bod,” an American Pale Ale, pays homage to the laid-back spirit of fathers everywhere.

Brady, reflecting on the diverse tastes of the market’s patrons, highlights two exceptional beer offerings. The first, a freshly brewed batch of ‘Dad Bod,’ promises to delight with its distinct character. Additionally, patrons can indulge in a refreshing lemon shandy, expertly crafted by blending Elmhurst Brewing’s German lager beer with real lemon, offering a delightful twist on a classic favorite.

The market will feature sixteen local artisans offering a wide array of handmade items including woodwork, original artwork, prints, stickers, paper roses, fresh roasted coffee beans, and articulated dragons. Notable among them is Paula Krizek, owner of Self Made Body & Soul, who will showcase an exclusive selection of soaps, body creams, beard oils, and sage.

“This is one of my favorite breweries! The patio is so inviting, and the French toast is the BOMB,” Krizek exclaimed. “I will have a few rubber duckies available for adoption along with several new items too this Saturday.”

Harris emphasized the importance of curation, ensuring minimal overlap of artists and craft types to provide shoppers with a genuine handmade experience. The event is free to attend, and all ages are welcome.

To accommodate the anticipated excitement surrounding the first Saturday market of 2024, Elmhurst Brewing recommends making reservations by calling (630) 834-BREW. Reservations are not mandatory but are advised, especially during busy market days.

The curator welcomes you to join them on Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Elmhurst Brewing, 171 N Addison Ave. in Elmhurst, for a day filled with brunch, beverages, and local artisanal treasures.
