Woman injured in Huntley crash that closed Route 47 northbound lanes

A woman was removed from a vehicle and taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital with moderate injuries on Thursday following a two-car crash in the 10700 block of Route 47 in Huntley.

Northbound lanes of Route 47 between Algonquin Road and Main Street in Huntley were closed midday Thursday because of the crash, according to an alert from the Huntley Police Department.

The Huntley Fire Protection District arrived at the scene about 12:15 p.m. to find one of the cars on its side and heavily damaged, a spokesperson for the Huntley Fire Protection District told the Northwest Herald. The woman who was taken to the hospital was the only person injured in the crash, the spokesperson said.

Huntley police issued the alert at about 12:30 p.m. and asked drivers to avoid the area. Authorities were not available to provide details. A second alert sent about 1 p.m. announced the road has been reopened.

The crash is under investigation by the Huntley Police Department.
