Itasca Frühlingsfest awards fan favorite beers

The third annual Frühlingsfest, held on Saturday, April 27, at Church Street Brewing Company in Itasca, awarded three brewers Fan Favorite plaques.

Moor’s Brewing Company and their Helles Lager took home the first Frühlingsfest Fan Favorite award.

One of Chicago’s Black-owned breweries, Moor’s focuses on making excellent beers in the style of the original Moorish craftsmen.

Their brews sparkled during the 2023 Frühlingsfest. This year, a round of fan voting established Moor’s Brewing’s Helles Lager as the best of the fest. Visit MoorsBeer.com to find a local vendor.

Black Horizon Brewing Company’s Surf King West Coast IPA and Church Street Brewing Company’s Rock of Ages Steinbier shared runner-up awards.

Black Horizon is another of Chicago’s Black-owned brewers. Their Willowbrook taproom boasts over a dozen of their beers on tap and to-go cans. Keep up-to-date with new beers, events and food truck nights at BlackHorizonBrewing.com.

Church Street Brewing is a woman-owned and family-run brewery. The Taproom, Steeple, HopGarten and Barley Haus serve up a variety of some of the best beers with music, special events, and kitchens serving righteously good food to match their righteously good beer! Check out menus, a huge list of beers on tap, and all of the musical guests at ChurchStreetBrew.com.

A team of volunteers organizes this event to benefit the youth scouting programs administered by the Three Fires Council. All proceeds support Scouting adventures right here in the community. The Three Fires Council serves youth across DeKalb, DuPage, Kane and Kendall counties plus portions of Cook and Will counties.

Plan to join them next spring in Church Street Brewing’s backyard to meet new brewers and make new friends.
