West Chicago student receives Bauer Scholarship Award

Bauer Built Inc. recently announced that Melanie Ballines from West Chicago Community High School as one of the winners of the G.F. “Sam” and Ethel V. Bauer/Bauer Built Inc. Scholarship Award.

Bauer Built introduced this program in 1994 in commemoration of their 50th anniversary and in honor of their founders, G.F. “Sam” and Ethel V. Bauer. Melanie will be awarded $2,000 upon completing her first semester of post-secondary education. Since 1994, Bauer Built has awarded $168,000 in scholarships.

Melanie is the daughter of Omar and Ariadnna Ballines. Omar is a heavy duty service technician at the Bauer Built Tire Center in Romeoville. Melanie’s plans are to attend the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and pursue a career in the veterinary tech field.

Other winners of the G.F. “Sam” and Ethel V. Bauer/Bauer Built Inc. Scholarship were:

• Kaylie Church from Northwest High School in Grand Island, Nebraska

• Cayleigh Jackson from Sumner-Eddyville-Miller High School in Sumner, Nebraska

• Kaylee Johnson from Crestwood High School in Cresco, Iowa

• Brady Weber from Durand-Arkansaw High School in Durand, Wisconsin

• Tyler Wood from Vinton-Shellsburg High School in Vinton, Iowa

Bauer Built Inc., which has corporate offices in Durand, Wisconsin and a Tire & Service Center in Romeoville, has been in business 80 years servicing the Midwest with tires and expanded light mechanical services including 35 tire locations, 5 Michelin Retread Technology retread plants, and 2 wheel-refinishing operations.
