Lake County man sold illegal drugs, police say

A Waukegan-area man is facing drug-related charges following a monthlong Lake County Sheriff’s Office task force investigation, officials said Friday.

Travier L. Bunch, 32, of the 12800 block of West Harrison Avenue, was arrested Thursday and charged with 17 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Bunch sold illegal drugs — including heroin laced with fentanyl and methamphetamine — to undercover detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group three times, sheriff’s Deputy Chief Chris Covelli said.

The drugs had a street value of $500, Covelli said.

Bunch also was charged in a warrant with domestic battery.

Bunch was arrested after parking his car at an apartment complex on the 600 block of Hill Street in Waukegan and meeting a potential customer, Covelli said.

When he was arrested, Bunch had six fentanyl pills, 12 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of heroin, 52 hydrocodone pills and 69 grams of cannabis in his pockets and his car, Covelli said.

The drugs were packaged for distribution, Covelli said.

Bunch was being held Friday at the Lake County jail. A detention hearing is set for Monday afternoon in Lake County circuit court.
