‘Simply the best’: The MAC announces upcoming season, starting with Tina Turner tribute

Second City and The Capitol Fools, Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl and the dance ensemble MOMIX, actors Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody and their son Gideon Grody-Patinkin, improvisers Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, director John Waters, comedian Paula Poundstone and the YAMATO drummers of Japan are among the artists set to headline the McAninch Arts Center’s 2024-2025 season.

The lineup also includes full seasons from resident companies the Buffalo Theatre Ensemble and The New Philharmonic, as well as Salt Creek Ballet’s annual performance of “The Nutcracker” accompanied by The New Philharmonic.

The season begins Sept. 5 with BTE’s production of Paul Slade Smith’s political dramedy “The Outsider.” That’s followed Sept. 7 by the official MAC season kickoff with Showtime Australia’s “PROUD Tina: The Ultimate Tribute to Tina Turner.”

“America’s Got Talent” veterans MALEVO return Sept. 28. Scott Keo pays tribute to Michael Bublé on Oct. 18. The New Philharmonic performs favorite works from composer John Williams Nov. 1-3. The Second City remounts its Christmas show on Dec. 1. The Barricade Boys, a British vocal quartet comprised of London musical theater stars, returns to The MAC Feb. 21, 2025. Performances take place at 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Tickets are on sale for renewing subscribers. Subscriptions go on sale to the general public June 26. Single show tickets go on sale at noon July 24 at atthemac.org, (630) 942-4000 or at the box office.
