Des Plaines man sentenced to prison for tax fraud

A 32-year-old Des Plaines man was sentenced to one year in prison after a jury found him guilty of tax fraud earlier this year.

Prosecutors said Nikko D’Ambrosio had “vastly overstated” food and mileage expenses on personal income tax statements for 2019 and 2020, as well as falsely claiming charitable donations to the Catholic Church.

D’Ambrosio infamously sued Facebook and a group of women he had previously dated for defamation over disparaging comments about him on a social media account. That case is still ongoing.
