Wheaton providing Narcan overdose antidote

Free boxes of Narcan, the lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medication, are now available round-the-clock at the Wheaton police station.

The Narcan Takeaway Box is installed right inside the front door of the police department, along with instructions on how to administer Narcan as a nasal spray.

Anyone can now walk in and take a box without having to speak to a member of the department or provide any personal information, Wheaton social worker Khadija Khan said in a video released by the city.

“Having access to Narcan when someone is experiencing an overdose could save their life,” Khan said.

The Narcan Takeaway Box is provided by the DuPage Recovery Oriented Systems of Care. The station is at 900 W. Liberty Drive.
