Warrenville’s special census continues through July 12

The U.S. Census Bureau has a special census underway in Warrenville. All residents should participate in the 2024 Special Census, even if they participated in the 2020 Census so the city will have an accurate population count.

Accurate population numbers make the city eligible for more state and federal money. This helps fund city services such as street repair, public safety, and more.

The 2020 Census reported Warrenville’s population as 13,553. But the 2020 census did not get data from several newer developments.

This includes residents of Everton, Lexington Trace, Arden, Westlyn, and Riverview West.

The city estimates an accurate population count could result in $244,528 of revenue each year. This includes three taxes distributed by the state: income tax, local use tax, and motor fuel tax.

During the special census from June 10 through July 12, field representatives visit residents who did not fill out the census online in May. Field reps will go door-to-door to daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including weekends. Field workers wear a badge and will show their identification to residents when they open the door.

Responding to the special census is important, easy, and quick — they are asking all residents to be counted.
