Geneva Unitarian Church set to return to Aurora Pride Parade

Continuing an annual tradition, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva will once again march in the Aurora Pride Parade. Members and friends will join the thousands of marchers scheduled to step off at noon on Sunday, June 9.

Church members and friends have marched in every Aurora Pride Parade since the first one was held in 2018. Last year, approximately 40 marchers took part, with even more expected to participate in this year’s event.

“Our church is proud to once again show our support for our LGBTQIA+ members, families, friends and neighbors,” said the Rev. Scot Hull, church minister. “In a time when so many in this community are being told that they have no rights to life, to dignity, to health care, we choose to affirm and promote not only their inherent worth and dignity, but their importance, their vitality, and their liberation.”

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva also will participate in other Pride events, including a nondenominational service prior to the parade at Aurora’s New England Congregational Church, and a multi-church Pride Family Picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at River Bend Park, 6N517 Geneva Ave. in St. Charles.
