No injuries reported in Round Lake Beach laundromat fire

A Wednesday evening fire at 24 Hour Laundry Depot remains under investigation in Round Lake Beach, Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District officials said.

According to officials, the department received a call at 6:18 p.m. from customers.

Firefighters arrived at the depot at 1030 N Cedar Lake Road, at 6:22 p.m. and found light smoke coming from the roof.

The fire was extinguished at 6:36 p.m., and there were no injuries or fatalities.

The cause and extent of the damage are still being investigated.

The smoke detectors and fire equipment within the building were operational, fire officials said, but they did not alert the department as they typically should.

The business will be temporarily closed for cleanup due to some water damage, officials said.
