Events and Opportunities Await in Vernon Township

Vernon Township has lined up several community events and outreach programs to benefit community members over the summer. Vernon Township is at 3050 N. Main St., Buffalo Grove.

• Fabiola “Fabbi” Vasquez has been recently selected as the new Vernon Township Clerk. She replaces Tim Kobler, who was appointed to serve as township supervisor in April. Vasquez oversees voter registration, voting by mail, early voting sites, and election information within Vernon Township.

• Join the Township for their inaugural VT Palooza from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 13. This event will have something for the whole family, including carnival and lawn games, live music, bounce houses, food vendors and discounts for the Aquatic Center. Learn more at vernontownship.com.

• Registration is now open for children from 4-7 years of age and the camp runs from Monday, June 17, through Friday, Aug. 2, at William E. Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Vernon Hills. Children will enjoy an educational experience with activities such as arts and crafts, sports, swimming, sing-a-longs and more. • The Township’s 15th annual Community Garage Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, in the west parking lot at Prairie View Metra Station, 23034 N. Main St., Buffalo Grove, rain or shine. If you would like to be a vendor at this event, the township has spaces available, with proceeds benefiting the Township Food Pantry. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved in person at the Township or online by visiting vernontownship.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=150.

• Mark your calendar for a blood drive co-sponsored with State Representative Dan Didech in partnership with the American Red Cross from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Community Service Building, 2900 N. • Join the township for an electrifying experience in honor of Unplug Illinois Day at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. Immerse yourself in the magic of live music as the Falconaires Orchestra takes the stage for a free outdoor concert.
