Lisle Woman’s Club Garden Gait: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Museum at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St., Lisle. The Lisle Woman’s Club is hosting its 22nd annual Garden Walk and garden-themed Craft Fair. Begin at Museum Station Park and then continue through some beautiful private gardens in Lisle. All proceeds support philanthropic causes in and around Lisle and the student scholarship program. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 day of walk. For information, lislewomansclub.org/garden-gait.

Plant Swap: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., Elmhurst. Plant lovers of all ages are invited to meet at the library to trade gardening supplies and pest-free plants, including houseplants, potted plants, cuttings, succulents and more. Plant swaps are a great way to start a new hobby or for expert gardeners to add more variety to their collections. No registration required. Summer Floral Arrangements: 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Glenview Public Library, 1930 Glenview Road, Glenview. Peggy Garvin of Garvin Gardens demonstrates how to create floral masterpieces using fresh flowers. All floral arrangements will be raffled off at the end of the night. Buffalo Grove Garden Club: 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove. Kids in the Garden Day: 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at The Growing Place, 25w471 Plank Road, Naperville or 2000 Montgomery Road, Aurora. The Growing Place and Master Gardeners are teaming up for a day of play. Kids can play in a worm bin, plant a pot to take home, listen to stories and more. Rolling Meadows Garden Club: 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Rolling Meadows Community Center, 3705 Pheasant Drive, Rolling Meadows. “Butterflies of The American Prairie.” Guest speaker Doug Taron, chief curator emeritus at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and head of the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network, explores the butterfly species of Northeast Illinois, their life cycles and ecology, with emphasis on the relationship between caterpillar food plants and habitat. Schaumburg Community Garden Club: 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday on the month, at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Members of the Schaumburg Community Garden Club vary greatly in their gardening knowledge, ranging from novices to Master Gardeners. The membership is active in the community and concerned with beautification and preservation of is environment. At every club meeting, a presentation is given by a gardening professional or horticulture expert. Afterward is a discussion of club business and future events. Monet’s Garden: 7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, at Cantigny Park, 1s151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Indulge in an evening of art, nature and French delights on an imaginary trip to Giverny, the birthplace of Monet’s inspiration. Art historian Denise Laurin will uncover the hidden gems of Monet’s garden. Cost of $40 includes parking, two glasses of French wine, and two profiteroles. Details and registration at Cantigny.org.

Park Ridge Garden Club: Meets at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month from September through June, at The Centennial Activity Center, 100 S. Western, Park Ridge. Enter using the door to the south of the main entrance. For information, parkridgegardenclub.org/index.html.

June 15

Seed to Harvest: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at DeKalb County Community Gardens, 2475 Bethany Road, Sycamore. Tour the garden, taste veggies and herbs and volunteer in the DeKalb County Community Gardens/Northwestern Medicine Garden assisting with: Watering plants, seeding and planting veggies, harvesting for DCCG distribution, weeding. The garden is a 1.5-acre growing space. In 2023, more than 2,000 pounds of fresh produce were harvested for distribution. This program is open to all ages. No registration is required. Private Garden Tour: John Richter has opened his private garden in Warrenville to share the beauty of his various grafted trees and variegated bushes, thousands of day lilies from 10 different hybridizers, and over 750 different varieties of hostas, as well as numerous beautiful sculptures. There is no charge for you to go and stroll through his garden — just call him at (630) 393-3279 to schedule a time. Hopefully, John will see you in his garden this year.
