Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital to host Health and Benefit Fair for veterans

Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital will host a Health and Benefit Fair, scheduled for Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will take place in the main lobby of the hospital, 5000 Fifth Ave. in Hines.

This comprehensive fair is designed to provide Veterans with a wide range of health services, information, and resources, all in one convenient location. Attendees will have access to:

Health services include:

• PACT ACT Toxic Exposure Screening

• Primary Care Physicals

• Hearing Screenings and Hearing Aid Repair

• Blood Pressure Checks

• Fall Screenings

• Body Mass Index Measurements

There will be information and presentations by: Audiology; Blind Rehabilitation; Social Work/Mental Health; Physical Therapy; Geriatrics; Prescription Drug Information; Veterans Benefits Administration; National Cemetery Administration; and Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.

Additional services include: benefit administration and health care enrollment.

The event is free and open to all veterans. No reservations are required, making it easy for veterans to drop in at their convenience.

“We are committed to supporting our Veterans by providing them with the essential health and benefit services they need,” said James Doelling, Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital director. “This fair is an excellent opportunity for Veterans to access multiple services in one place, and we encourage everyone to attend and take advantage of the resources available.”

Veterans who are not currently receiving VA benefits are especially encouraged to attend to check their eligibility and receive information on enrollment for care at Hines VA. Same-day primary care physicals will be available, pending eligibility and availability.
