Mainstreet Libertyville’s Lunch in the Park returns June 21

Live music and plentiful lunch options return to downtown Libertyville’s Cook Park on Friday, June 21, for the first week of Lunch in the Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to downtown Libertyville’s picturesque Cook Park every Friday from June 21 through Aug. 16 and enjoy live music and food vendors in a casual, relaxing atmosphere.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week, visitors can enjoy lunch in the park from a variety of local eateries and vendors including Clucker’s Charcoal Chicken, Coppolillo’s Italian Steakhouse, Feather Glass Wine Bar & Eatery, La Mera Mera Taqueria, Magic Crepes, Rosati’s Pizza, Singh’s Kitchen, Sugarville, Sweet Home Gelato, Sweetbelly and Up in Smoke Creations.

This year’s dining options include half-pound steakburgers, quarter-pound hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, pizza, a variety of chicken sandwiches, wings and tenders, a variety of salads, kathi rolls, lollipop wings, barbecue, sweet and savory crepes, meatballs, sausage and peppers, Italian-style sandwiches, ice cream, gelato and sorbet.

Lunch in the Park offers a way to spend a summer afternoon with good food and live music. Kicking off the season is Chris’s One Man Jam on June 21.

Lunch in the Park will run for nine weeks with the following local entertainment on the plaza just outside of the historic Ansel B. Cook Home:

• July 5: Cole Brandt

• July 12: Liverpool Acoustic

• July 19: Kevin Spica

• July 26: Strat and Taylor

• Aug. 2: Pete Cimbalo

• Aug. 9: Abby Kay Music

• Aug. 16: Blue Eyed Leo

This year’s event series will also feature a variety of children’s entertainment and activities.

• June 28: 4-H U of I Extension, STEM activity

• July 5: Dog Days of Summer Twelve Paws Pet Supply pet adoption event, and Byline Bank piggy bank craft

• July 12: The Mermaid Malia, balloon twisting, and US Fish & Wildlife Demo

• July 19: Arts & Crafts Day

• July 26: Face Painting

• Aug. 2: Brownie Decorating

• Aug. 9: Lake County Farm Bureau

• Aug. 16: Master Gardeners

Be sure to make time to visit the shops in town before or after lunch or take a stroll through downtown Libertyville. Downtown Libertyville is home to more than 30 unique shops and 20 dining experiences.

Free, four-hour parking is available in the covered parking garages on Lake Street and on Church Street. Or take the train; the Metra station is in the heart of downtown Libertyville near the shops and restaurants.
