North Aurora motorcyclist critically injured in crash near Batavia
A North Aurora motorcyclist was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near Batavia.
The crash happened just before 6 p.m. near Banbury Road and Route 25 in Batavia Township, authorities said.
Investigators said Dennis Shere, 83, of North Aurora, was traveling southwest on Route 25 and failed to yield as he began to turn south onto Banbury Road. He struck Juan Calderon, 23, who was traveling northeast on his motorcycle.
Calderon was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with head and torso injuries, authorities said.
Shere was not hurt and was issued a citation, authorities said.
