Cantigny Book Talk to be on ‘Nature is Our Country Club’

For his newest book “Nature Is Our Country Club: How Golf Explains Sustainability In a Changing World,” North Aurora author Christopher Cudworth spent four years researching the golf industry's economic and environmental realities as courses face changes due to climate change.

He documents the progress made through native landscaping and examines golf's challenges related to water usage, weather extremes, and how new generations of golfers are approaching a game that survived its mid-life crisis to emerge renewed through the Covid pandemic.

The book will be released on Wednesday, June 19, on Amazon.com. That day, Cudworth is hosting a Book Talk at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Winfield. Admission and parking are free with pre-registration for this special event. Signed copies will be available at a special price of $19.99.

Those interested are invited to come early for a casual nature walk before the presentation. To join the walk, meet behind the Cantigny Visitors Center (on the fountain side) at 5:30 p.m. No signup is necessary, and binoculars will be available for borrowing.

The new South Grove Beer Garden will be open with food and beverage service until 9 pm. Thomas Linsk (solo piano and vocals) will perform on stage from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Cudworth's previous books include “Honest-To-Goodness: Why Christianity Needs a Reality Check and How To Make It Happen” (2022) and “The Right Kind of Pride, Character, Community and Caregiving,” a chronicle of cancer survivorship with his late wife (2013). Both books are also available on Amazon.com. His first book, “The Genesis Fix: A Repair Manual for Faith in the Modern Age,” will be re-released in 2024.
