Village of Riverwoods ‘Cars in the Woods’ on June 22

Car enthusiasts and their families are invited to enjoy "Cars in the Woods," the second Riverwoods Invitational Car Show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, at Flatwoods Heritage Center on the grounds of Riverwoods Village Hall, 300 Portwine Road, Riverwoods.

There is no charge to attend. Guests are welcome to stay and picnic outside the Riverwoods Village Hall.

Parking will be available. Village hall will be open for access to rest rooms and water fountains.

For those who would you like to exhibit their car, the only requirement is that the car(s) must be owned by a Riverwoods resident. Auto owners welcome the opportunity to visit with guests and discuss their cars’ uniqueness and back story.

Ayone who is a Riverwoods resident, owns a collectible car (old or new), and would like to display it can contact John Maxson, at (312) 933-3239 or jmaxson@aol.com, or Norman Noerper, at (847) 975-6794. There are a limited number of car spaces. Cars and their owners should arrive at 10 a.m.

Anyone else can plan a picnic lunch and come to see the cars, be outdoors, and enjoy time together.

“This is a non-judged show set up only for enjoying the cars. We are not focused on any particular type of car, however, we would anticipate classic, modern sports cars and special interest cars, 1960s muscle cars, restored classic cars, and antique cars to be on exhibit,” said John Maxson, a long-time collector, including his Model A Ford (restored twice) purchased for $400 when he was in high school.

As of now, examples of cars that will be on display include: 1953 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, 1941 Packard Model 120, 2004 Thunderbird, 1955 Ford Thunderbird, 1972 Z28 Camaro, 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche, 1955 Porsche Spyder, 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, 1949 Willys Jeepster, 2028 Corvette Z06 Coupe, 2024 Corvette 206 Coupe, and a 2021 Camaro Rally Sport Shock and Steel Edition.
