Barrington Junior Women's Club awards scholarships to high school graduates

The Barrington Junior Women's Club (BJWC) is proud to announce the awarding of four scholarships to exceptional graduates of Barrington High School. This year’s recipients were honored at a special scholarship dinner, celebrating their academic achievements, leadership and commitment to community service.

BJWC, a not-for-profit organization composed of dedicated women from the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, has been enhancing the lives of women, children and seniors in the Barrington area for over 85 years. Through various fundraising events, BJWC raises funds to support local nonprofits and provide scholarships to outstanding students.

“These scholarships represent the culmination of countless hours of planning and fundraising by our members,” said Jacqui Pieroni BJWC president. “We are incredibly fortunate to have a generous community that supports our efforts, enabling us to invest in the future of these remarkable young individuals.”

The scholarship recipients are:

Ashna Shah, Janice Clarke Scholarship winner: Ashna completed 422 hours of community service, ranked in the top 5% of her class, and held numerous leadership roles including positions in HOSA, Red Cross Club and Broncos Committed Club.

Zaina Shethwala, Community Service Award winner: Zaina volunteered 324 hours with organizations such as St. Alexius Medical Center, American Red Cross and Feed My Starving Children, demonstrating her dedication to community service.

Breanna Brown, Community Service Award winner: Breanna contributed 409 service hours to activities including student athletic training, volunteering for Special Olympics, and serving meals to the homeless in Chicago.

Hiral Prikh, Community Service Award winner: Hiral served 235 hours with various organizations including St. Anne’s Adopt a Family, American Red Cross and BJWC Safety Town.

Pieroni remarked, “Our philanthropy committee reviewed the scholarship applications, and we were truly amazed by the dedication and hard work these students put in. Their ability to balance academics, extracurricular activities, and community service is extraordinary. They exemplify the qualities of leadership and commitment that we aim to foster.”

The Barrington Junior Women's Club extends heartfelt congratulations to these outstanding individuals. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, resilience, and the strong values they hold. As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, BJWC is confident they will continue to excel and make significant contributions to their communities and beyond.
