Mundelein teen a finalist in essay contest about dads

A Mundelein High School student is one of 13 finalists in an essay contest about fathers, the organization putting on the annual competition announced.

Tenth-grader Tonni Lumu was honored for what he wrote about dad Tonny Lumu for the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative’s annual contest.

The topic was “What my father means to me.”

Tonni wrote that his dad “sacrificed everything for his family, which made me who I am today,” the organization said in a news release.

The Illinois Fatherhood Initiative aims to connect children and fathers by getting dads engaged in their kids’ educations.
