Learn about sustainable practices at Sherman Natural Prairie and Community Garden

The Sherman Natural Prairie and Community Garden is hosting presentations on “Sustainable Practices.” It will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to noon. The rain date will be Sunday, June 30, at the same time.

It will begin promptly at 10:05 a.m. Presentations will be as follows:

The Compost Team will talk about “Compost Uses in the Garden: When, Why, and How to Side Dress” from 10:05 to 10:35 a.m. This presentation will be held at the Compost Center.

The Education Team will talk about “Maximizing Your Harvest — What to Do and When” from 10:35 to 11:05 a.m. This presentation will be held at the “Big E Garden.”

“Ask a Master Gardener” will be held from 11:05 a.m. to noon. Master Gardeners will be available for a bedside consult to answer any of your garden bed questions. Other questions are also welcome.

Also win chances to pick “garden goodies” by attending the different events! The more you attend, the more chances to win.

The Sherman Natural Prairie and Community Garden is located behind Advocate Sherman Hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin. Park in the back of Advocate Sherman Hospital, in the employees’ lot F3. The garden is located at the east end of the geothermal lake.
