Rejuvenator used to extend road life

A glue-like pavement rejuvenator will be applied to newly completed road surfaces in Lake County to extend their lives by as long as five years.

The maltene-based pavement product creates a tighter surface leading to fewer rocks chipping off and reduces damage from freeze-thaw cycles, according to the Lake County Division of Transportation.

The substance will be applied at the roundabout at Darrell and Case Roads; Gilmer Road from Schwerman Road to the railroad crossing; Hunt Club Road from Route 173 to the state line; Kilbourne Road from Route 173 to Wadsworth Road; and, Winchester Road from Route 83 to Route 21.

A sandlike material prevents the liquid from getting on vehicles while it soaks in.
