Here come the Hawks — to Palatine’s Little City

The Chicago Blackhawks brought a full day of activities, as well as a player and mascot, to Little City in Palatine on Tuesday.

Little City serves adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. About 100 people are residents there, and many others attend classes and events to help them learn how to live and work in society.

“We wanted to bring the spirit of the Chicago Blackhawks to Little City and bring a little bit of joy and fun from the team,” said Annie Davis-Korelc, director of social impact and outreach for the Blackhawks. “We just really wanted to do something for the program participants and put a little Blackhawks flavor on it.”

The flavor included a visit by defenseman Alex Vlasic, who left behind a signed jersey. Classrooms were decorated with Blackhawks themes, and there was a floor hockey clinic, flower pot painting, singing and a kickball game with team mascot Tommy Hawk.
