Ice skate and check out puppies for adoption Saturday in Northbrook
The Northbrook Park District is partnering with the nonprofit Wright-Way Rescue to host “Pup-Lick Skate,” a special public skate and puppy adoption event on Saturday, June 29.
Representatives of Wright-Way Rescue will be on site with puppies available for adoption from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the pool entrance at Northbrook Sports Center.
People can stop by to learn more about adoption opportunities on their way to and from the Sports Center’s public skate hours, which run from 10:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
This is the first such event at the Sports Center, Recreation Supervisor Bridgette Sterba said.
“It will be a great way to incorporate awareness about the need for pet adoption in a friendly and fun environment,” she said. “We are also collecting donations for Wright Way Rescue, because they need supplies to continue their good work.”
Rescuing cats and dogs, Wright-Way-Rescue is based in Morton Grove. The nonprofit is very excited to be partnering with Northbrook Park District for Saturday’s adoption event, said its representative Rochelle Michalek.
“Summer is a wonderful time to add a new furry friend to your family. With the beautiful weather and your children home from school, it is a great time to adopt a homeless animal,” she said. Wright-Way Rescue will be bringing a wide variety of puppies that are looking for families to call their own!”
Additionally, children and adults can earn a free public skate pass on Saturday if they bring one of the following donation items: Fleece throws, bath towels, bleach, detergent, dog toys, cat toys, cat litter, paper towels, latex gloves, office supplies, copy paper, highlighters and pens.
Daily admission fees for public skate are $6 for ages 3 to 17 and $7 for ages 18 and up. Skate rental is $4.
A 10-admission swipe car is $50 for ages 3 to 17 and $60 for ages 18 and up. Skate rental with admission card is $35.
