Park Ridge police looking for carjacking suspect

Park Ridge police are looking for a carjacking suspect who held two women and a child at gunpoint late Thursday.

Police officials said a female victim drove to convenience store on the 800 block of Higgins Road for milk just before 10:30 p.m. with her mother and 3-year-old child in the back seat.

When the driver went into the store, the suspect approached the vehicle, displayed a firearm and ordered the driver’s mother and child out of the car. They exited the vehicle. As the driver was exiting the store, the suspect pointed a gun at her and ordered her to give him her wallet. She complied.

The suspect, described as a slim Black male between the ages of 19 and 25 wearing a light blue baseball cap, dark shirt and ripped blue jeans, took off in the victim’s 2024 white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Illinois State Police located the vehicle later after it had crashed in the area of 34th and Halsted streets in Chicago. The offender fled the scene on foot, authorities said. A search of the area was unsuccessful.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact Park Ridge police at (847) 318-5252.
