Itasca gets grant for energy planning

Itasca has been awarded a $48,500 grant by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

The village was one of seven units of local government awarded funding through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. The funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The grants help municipalities and counties with the development or revision of existing strategic energy or climate action plans, according to an IEPA announcement.

The village of Westchester in Cook County was awarded $40,000.
