A Macy’s store will fill a portion of the former Carson’s space at Randhurst Village in Mount Prospect, village documents indicate. Mount Prospect officials said they could not officially confirm that the retailer is moving in, citing an agreement keeping the village from disclosing the store’s name.

Athletic training gym for kids as young as age 7 expands in suburbs

Chirag and Shraddha Shah of Aurora are franchisees in D1 Training. Their 4,000-square-foot gym opened earlier this month at 71 W. Rand Road in Arlington Heights. It joins locations managed by other franchisees in Aurora, Oswego and Bloomingdale. The Shahs plan to open another location in Schaumburg.

Custom home ‘Pinnacle’ development gets support from Lombard planners

A developer wants to turn a partially vacant, mostly unincorporated site into a luxury residential community in Lombard. Afsar Developers is asking the village for permission to build two dozen single-family homes between Meyers Road and School Street. If the project moves forward, custom homes in “The Pinnacle on Meyers” development are expected to be priced in the $1.5 million range.

Long Grove resident who founded Gloria Jean’s Gourmet Coffees dies at 82

Gloria Jean Kvetko of Long Grove, the founder and namesake of the international brand Gloria Jean’s Gourmet Coffees, has died at 82. Kvetko opened her first shop in historic downtown Long Grove in 1979, intended as a stand-alone family business. The venture grew into a nationwide presence of more than 220 stores before she sold the company in 1993.

Mega warehouse gets green light to build on Geneva’s east side

Geneva City Council members last week approved a 55.62-acre annexation, which will include a 719,200-square-foot warehouse on the city’s east side. The site is generally east of Kirk Road between Old Kirk Road to the north and Fabyan Parkway to the south.

Hilton hotel to be built where La Quinta stood at Elk Grove Village entryway

The spot where a La Quinta Inn motel stood for decades at the entryway to Elk Grove Village is set to be the construction site for a Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel. The new 5-story, 115-room hotel is part of an $18 million redevelopment of the northeast corner of Oakton Street and Busse Road by Oak Brook-based Aim High Hospitality.
