Early morning garage fire leaves Batavia home uninhabitable
An early Thursday morning fire in the attached garage of a house in Batavia left the home uninhabitable and damaged a neighboring residence.
Firefighters were called to the two-story, single-family home on the 600 block of Millview Drive just after 2:30 a.m. by the homeowner reporting activated smoke alarms.
The garage was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived, officials said. The fire extended to the home’s second floor as well and caused minor heat damage to the house next door.
It took nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters and investigators were on the scene for four hours. No damage estimate was available.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
