Special comedy brunch comes to the Prairie Center July 28
Arguing that “you can’t laugh on an empty stomach,” the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts combines comedy with brunch at Sunday Stand-Up on Sunday, July 28.
A special summer extension of the Prairie Center’s Thursday Night Laughs series, Sunday Stand-Up begins at 11 a.m., on the Prairie Center’s plaza with live beats provided by DJ K. Sity and an individually packaged brunch from McAlister’s Deli that includes a breakfast sandwich, yogurt, and fresh fruit cup.
At noon the event moves indoors for a program headlined by Thursday Night Laughs favorite Adam Burke, more widely known for his regular appearances on NPR’s Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me. The showcase-style comedy show also stars Dan Garcia, Steven Haas, Katie Kincaid, and Ben Noble.
Sunday Stand-Up was developed by the creators of Thursday Night Laughs (TNL), the Prairie Center’s stand-up comedy series, which debuted in the fall of 2022, and continues to draw a growing fan base. TNL runs for one show a month from September through April each year. Sunday Stand-Up provides a unique opportunity to sample the comedy series off-season while enjoying the summer pastime of having brunch outdoors with friends.
Tickets for Sunday Stand-Up, $30 per person, include an individually packaged brunch from McAlister’s Deli and admission to the comedy showcase. While there is no age restriction, the show may contain adult-themed content. To ensure guaranteed entry, orders for Sunday Stand-Up must be placed by July 21.
