Green Garden Mama and GardenWorks Project to host fall gardening workshop at Morton Arboretum
As the summer sun shines brightly, it’s the perfect time to look ahead and prepare for the changing season.
On Thursday, Aug. 8, The GardenWorks Project and the Morton Arboretum are partnering for an enlightening workshop, “Productive, Beautiful Fall Gardens, with the Green Garden Mama.”
This event, free and open to the public, will equip you with the knowledge needed to transition your vegetable garden into autumn, and extend your harvest window.
The GardenWorks Project encourages gardeners to continue donating produce to local food pantries throughout the fall season, boosting the availability of fresh foods for our neighbors.
Led by Carrie Khoury, a Lombard native known as the “Green Garden Mama,” this event promises a wealth of fall gardening wisdom.
Discover how to select the right plant varieties, use protective structures, and manage winter soil health. Khoury brings her extensive knowledge and talents to help you ensure your garden thrives in the upcoming season. Embrace this opportunity to learn and consider sharing produce from your garden’s bounty with local food pantries to support our community’s fight against hunger.
Funding for this program is generously provided by DuPage County Community Services Block Grant.
The workshop will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, in the Arbor Room at Morton Arboretum’s Thornhill Education Center, West Side, 4100 Route 53, Lisle.
To RSVP, go to gardenworksproject.org/calendar/. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Embrace the warmth of summer while setting the stage for a bountiful fall harvest to enjoy and share with your neighbors. For more information and registration for this free workshop, visit gardenworksproject.org.
