Taste of Roselle block party returns Aug. 2-4

The annual Taste of Roselle on Aug. 2-4 offers family-friendly fun with over 40 food vendors, more than 50 craft and art booths, a carnival and games for the kids, bingo for kids and adults, live music, and more.

The three-day “Hometown Block Party" will be 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, on Main Street from Roselle Road to Park Street. Admission is free.

While strolling down Main Street, visit local shops and businesses.

Main Stage entertainment

The Main Stage on the east end of Main Street opens on Friday with the Schaumburg School of Rock-Students of Rock! at 6:15 p.m. They will be followed by Devon Delux, performing eight decades of rock and pop hits, at 7:45 p.m. Sealed With A Kiss will perform hits from the 1980s to the 2000s at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the stage will open with local musicians in the “Cavalcade of Stars” at noon. Sounds of the Good Life will be performing rock ‘n roll covers and originals at 1:45 p.m., followed by 88 West, covering American rock, British pop, and country, at 3:15 p.m. Shadowfields, a duo reimagining Americana Swamp Grass music, will take the stage at 4:45 p.m.

Voodoo Dolls, an eclectic cover band, will perform at 6:15 p.m., followed by Shukin and the Ramblers in the Rusty Roots Rock Revue at 8 p.m. Dixon Bandits, a Southern Rock tribute band, will close out the evening at 9:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the Christian Tabernacle Church’s Gospel Choir will open the final day of the three-day festival at noon. Live Pete performs old-time rock ‘n roll at 1:30 p.m., followed by Our So-Called Band playing rock alternative and ’90s, at 3:15 p.m.

The festival will close out with Universal SIim & the Blues Kangaroos at 4:45 p.m. and Band Age, a party rock band performing music across the decades, at 6:30 p.m.

Petal Plaza stage

The Showcase featuring local entertainment will be in the Petal Plaza on the west end of Main Street.

It will open at 6 p.m. Friday with a ceremony featuring the American Legion Post 1084 color guard and gun salute, the national anthem by Marc Cash and students, and opening words from Mayor David Pileski. At 7 p.m., enjoy jazz music from the Jeff De Larossa Combo at 7 p.m., followed by eclectic pop by Sideshowmen at 8:30 p.m.

Close out all three evenings with DJ Rixmix at 9:30 p.m. Friday, 9:15 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday.

On Saturday and Sunday, join in Zumba with Anytime Fitness at 1 p.m.

Get groovin’ with the dancers on Saturday with Lights, Camera, Dancing at 2 p.m. and Relevé Performing Arts at 3 p.m.

Katie Pelletier will perform acoustic pop/folk/country music at 4 p.m., followed by “Roselle's Troubador” Jim Bartholomew at 5:15 p.m. Lonesome Tony will perform blues and roots at 6:30 p.m. St. Joe Jack will be bringing acoustic dance and jazz to the stage at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, dancers from HOTT Production will take the stage at 2 p.m. Sammy Ray will perform acoustic blues at 3:15 p.m., followed by instrumental chant music from Ed Cid Duet at 4:30 p.m. and music from Kenny Hechtman at 6 p.m.

Bingo

Bring your bingo troll dolls, Beanies or other good-luck charms to the bingo tent, hosted by the Roselle Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Adult bingo will be 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the tent located in the library parking lot on Park Street, just south of Prospect.

Kids play can play for free with a food donation for the Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Food vendors

Find some tasty treats with the 40 food vendors offering hot buttered corn, Bucket-O-Fries, Italian beef, burgers, rib-eye sandwich, mac & cheese, ices, tacos, Quesabirria, egg rolls, grilled chicken, and more.

The Taste of Roselle will be welcoming back a few food faves, including Doctor Dogs, Dairy Queen, Gaby's Funnel Cakes, Genoa Italian Concessions, Italian Pizza Kitchen, Kona Ice of SW Schaumburg, and KurtosKalacs-TwisterRollcakes.

Other vendors include: Aunt Tina’s Sound Bites Food Truck, Bat 17, Bobar, Chicago Culinary Kitchen, D’s Treats & Ice Cream, Dippin’, Johnny G’s Meat and Deli, La Cebollita Grill, Lee Concessions, Midwest Citrus Smashers, and Roselle Sons of the American Legion Squadron 1084.

Beer tent

Don't forget to swing by the Roselle Lions Club beer tent to ring the bell and grab a cold one! All proceeds assist the Roselle Lions Club in supporting “Sight & Sound” for those in need and many contributions to our community.

They will be serving up Miller Lite, Coors Banquet, Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, and various flavors of White Claw. And if you're seeking more of a local craft beer, swing by the Pollyanna Brewing Company beverage truck.

Road closures

Main Street will be closed between Howard Avenue and Park streets beginning the morning of Aug. 1. Gradual closures will extend westbound on Main Street throughout the day on Aug. 1. Main Street closure will remain until Monday, Aug. 5.
