Hilltop Community Supper offer picnic-style meal Aug. 13

First Congregational Church of Dundee is hosting its next Hilltop Community Supper on Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The free supper will be offered as a “Picnic on the Hill” or drive-through and to-go dinner from 5-6 p.m., or as long as meals last, via the parking lot driveway of the church, 900 S. Eighth St. (Route 31 and Angle Tarn) in West Dundee. There will be no dining in the church building.

This second summer cookout supper will feature a hamburger or a “giant” grilled hot dog on a bun with pickles and condiments, garden salad, corn on the cob, potato chips and a cookie. Iced tea, lemonade and ice cream sundaes will be provided for the picnic attendees.

For those who are coming to picnic, there will be tables and chairs set up in the parking lot next to the Hilltop Harvest Garden. Your dinner will be served to you. There will be games, music and tours of our garden for those who would like to participate. If it rains, we will serve all meals via the “drive-through.”

The supper will be run entirely by volunteers who will assemble and serve the meal. Social distancing practices will be observed as we continue to take all precautions to ensure a safe experience for all participants and guests.

Dinners are offered at no cost, but freewill donations are gladly accepted to help sustain the meals and any additional contributions are accepted at any time. Come join this “drive-through” and/or “Picnic on the Hill” gathering of community members.

, an outreach effort that offers a free meal on the second Tuesday of the month supervised by volunteers with food handler permits. The suppers are open to any community member who would enjoy a warm, cooked meal. For details, call (847) 426-2161, ext. 202, or visit www.fccdundee.com.
