India Hub in Schaumburg hoists itself to tall heights with flagship event on Aug. 17

On the occasion of India's Independence Day, the Indian American community will be unfurling the tallest Indian flag in the United States. This mammoth endeavor undertaken by National India Hub, the not for profit Indian community organization is historic. The center is being flagged also for a host of other significant and noteworthy endeavors. The National India Hub in Schaumburg is a 110,000 square-foot. large center supporting 60 service organizations, and several other community endeavors including health care, wellness and cultural activities, run by a large team of dedicated volunteers.

The Indian Tri-color flag is referred to colloquially as Tiranga in Hindi and the American flag is commonly referred to as the Stars and Stripes. The coming together of the two as symbols of peace and friendship in a neighborhood where Indian Americans are a significant population and where ballots are offered in Hindi and Gujrati, during the election process, makes this significant for the Indian diaspora across the United States.

This flagship event inaugurating the noteworthy majestic flags on the occasion of India's Independence Day, with its founder Harish Kolsani's vision for an inclusive and all encompassing organization is emblematic of this event on Aug. 17. The public is encouraged to come out to witness this event and also to enjoy a multicultural extravaganza, an India Fest with food, fun and a cultural bouquet.

The flag hoisting inauguration will be at 8 a.m. Aug. 15.

The cultural event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at National India Hub, 930 National Parkway, Schaumburg.
