Residents escape Schaumburg fire that left home uninhabitable

No injuries were reported in an early morning fire at a two-story, single-family home on the 1300 block of Beckett Lane in Schaumburg that left the house uninhabitable.

The Schaumburg Fire Department was called at 5:09 a.m. and found fire inside and outside the attached garage, officials said.

Though the fire was declared under control at 5:30 a.m., there was significant damage to the structure, officials said. The residents had safely escaped before help arrived.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate wasn’t immediately available Friday.
