Troost Cemeteries welcomes historic Chicago location, expanding its legacy of care

Troost Cemeteries, Inc., announced that the beautiful and historic Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, deeply rooted in the community since the late 1800s in Chicago's history, is now under its care.

“We feel honored that this fourth-generation, family-run location has entrusted its future to our family, with our dedicated team of compassionate professionals since 1949,” said Scott Troost, president of Troost Cemeteries.

Mt. Greenwood joins a group of eight other community-focused Troost Cemeteries locations throughout the greater Chicago area.

“We invite the public to take a moment to stroll through and take in the beauty of the oak tree-lined roads and admire the Chicagoans that have made our city what it is,” Troost said.

The cemetery is steeped in rich history, reflected not only in the lives of those interred there but also in the significance of its architecture and grounds. Notably, Mt. Greenwood's chapel, reconstructed in 1937, is crafted from limestone quarried in Lemont and matches the stone used for Chicago's iconic water tower and pumping station on Michigan Avenue.

Highlighting the company’s motto, “Dedicated to Care,” Troost added they are here to serve the neighbors’ needs with attentive empathy in their hour of need.

Mt. Greenwood Cemetery is located at 2900 W. 111th St., Chicago. It is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is closed on Sundays.
