Gurnee man arrested in connection with Park Ridge road rage shooting
A 24-year-old Gurnee man is facing felony weapons charges after a road rage shooting in Park Ridge Monday evening, officials said.
Amani Walker was arrested after a low-speed chase in Skokie and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, according to a news release from the Park Ridge Police Department.
While Walker was being taken into custody, officers recovered a handgun, the release stated. Walker has a firearm owners identification card and a concealed carry license.
Police said Walker opened fire on two vehicles — a Hyundai and Honda — just after 5 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Touhy Avenue and Busse Highway.
According to reports, Walker rear-ended the Hyundai; and the drivers of both the Honda and Hyundai stopped, exited their vehicles, and started pounding on Walker’s car — ultimately breaking the rear window.
Walker fired three shots, striking the Hyundai, then fled the scene, officials said.
He currently is in custody awaiting a detention hearing.
