Beautify your yard and support local wildlife with the 2024 Glen Ellyn Native Tree & Shrub Sale

The Glen Ellyn Park District, in partnership with The Conservation Foundation and the Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission, is hosting the 2024 Glen Ellyn Native Tree & Shrub Sale.

This pre-order sale is open to both residents and nonresidents, offering everyone the chance to enhance their landscapes with beautiful and beneficial native plants.

“This sale is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in and around Glen Ellyn to add variety and ecological value to their yards,” said Courtney O'Kray, superintendent of marketing and communications from Glen Ellyn Park District. “Native plants provide essential food and habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, and they’re well-adapted to our local climate, requiring less maintenance in the long run.”

Fall is an ideal time to plant trees and shrubs, allowing their roots to establish before the harsh winter weather arrives. Plus, all plants come in convenient 5-gallon containers, making them easy to transport and plant in your yard.

The pre-order deadline is noon Friday, Sept. 13.

Choose from a diverse selection of 30 native tree and shrub varieties, including American hazelnut, bald cypress, black chokeberry, buttonbush, river birch, early wild rose, and meadowsweet.

The order pickup will be Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Frank Johnson Center, 490 Kenilworth Ave. in Glen Ellyn. Note that plants will not be available for purchase on-site.
