Business Formation Workshop
Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law will host another seminar in its Breakfast Briefs series for individuals looking to start their own business. The Business Formation Workshop will take place from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Sept. 11, at 1933 N. Meacham Road, Suite 127, in Schaumburg.
A panel of Lavelle Law attorneys will discuss the organizational steps needed to form a new business. Key topics will include choosing the right type of entity, potential tax consequences of each option, liability, and appropriate documentation including shareholder and operating agreements.
Presenters will include Lavelle Law Managing Partner Ted McGinn, Shareholder Steven Migala, and Associate Frank Portera. Collectively they have a range of experience in corporate formation, M&A, capital and financial issues, copyrights and trademarks, commercial leases, and contract negotiations. Each has held leadership roles in area chambers of commerce and are well-versed in the concerns and challenges new businesses face.
“There are a number of important decisions individuals need to make to establish solid footing for a new business venture,” McGinn said. “Our goal with the seminar is to provide some guidance on making good choices to set up a business up for success.”
Migala agreed, saying “Forming a business is not difficult but does require some guidance, primarily to protect the owners down the road as the business grows. We hope to share some of our knowledge to at least direct people to the proper considerations before they launch their operation.”
Those attending the free seminar will have the opportunity to ask questions and take advantage of a special startup package offered by the firm.
A continental breakfast will be served at 7:45 with the presentation beginning at 8 a.m. Full details along with registration can be found at lavellelaw.com/business-formation-workshop.
Space is limited and walk-up registration will not be available.
