Vin Chicago celebrates 90th anniversary with “Uncorking for a Cause” Nov. 1-3 to raise funds for local nonprofits

Family-owned wine retailer Vin Chicago announces the return of “Uncorking for a Cause,” a fundraiser for Chicago area not-for-profit organizations, Nov. 1-3, at its stores in Chicago, Highland Park and Barrington.

The unique three-day-long fundraiser aims to support multiple local organizations by donating 10 percent of sales to the organization of each customer's choice. In honor of the 90th anniversary of Vin Chicago’s founding, the company will donate an additional $1,000 to one participating not-for-profit and nine others will receive $100 via a random drawing. Register by Oct. 18 via the Vin Chicago website.

“As a family-owned business operating in the Chicago area for 90 years, Vin Chicago has deep roots in the local community and continues to be committed to the success of those who work to solve today's most pressing issues,” said Peter Schwarbach, Vin Chicago owner. “Learning about and supporting participating not-for-profits was a high priority for our customers and team alike.”

Schwarzbach added that the company hopes to register 90 groups to honor its anniversary and 1934 founding.

To participate, the not-for-profit organization must preregister online before Oct. 18. At checkout Nov. 1-3 shoppers must mention the group name. Online orders can be placed through the Vin Chicago website, and shoppers can indicate their affiliated group at checkout.

At its inaugural community fundraiser in 2023, more than 50 organizations participated, including those supporting animal welfare, counseling, domestic violence, education, environment, food security, shelter/unhomed and suicide awareness concerns. All groups registering before the deadline will be listed on the Vin Chicago website for customer preplanning and additional exposure.
