The Arcade Age Exhibit masterfully restores the best and more historically important arcade cabinets to their original glory. Presented by the Cradle of Aviation and LI Retro, this groundbreaking and critically-acclaimed arcade exhibit explores the history and culture of arcade gaming. The exhibit tells the story of video arcade games; from the pioneers in the early ‘40s and ’50s to the golden age in the late ‘70s and early ’80s to its crash, revival and ultimate decline in the ‘90s. It is a story of the creative and innovative people who explored groundbreaking technologies, the games that sprung from their ingenuity and a culture that was shaped by their developments.

“We are so excited to bring this fun and interactive exhibit to our library,” states Director of Programs and Outreach Stephanie Driscoll. “Everyone loves to play games and we can’t think of a better way to bring the community together to form connections than through these entertaining and nostalgic games.”

Schaumburg Township District Library (schaumburglibrary.org) serves approximately 130,000 residents in Schaumburg Township, including portions of Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg and Streamwood.
