Schaumburg to host annual Fall Recycling Event Oct. 19

The village of Schaumburg will host its annual Fall Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, in the west parking lot of Wintrust Field, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road. The community-wide event will include document destruction, electronics recycling, and latex and oil-based paint recycling. Some items will incur fees.

Docu-Shred will provide document destruction that will be available until the truck reaches capacity. Participants can bring up to two banker boxes per vehicle to be shredded.

EarthPaint.org will accept both latex and oil-based paint for recycling for a fee. Charges range from $2.99 per quart, $5.99 per gallon, and $19.99 per five gallons for latex paint and up to $5.99 per quart, $9.99 per gallon, and $25.99 per five gallons for oil-based paint. Charges will be based on the size of can that is disposed, not on the amount of material in the can. Please do not mix containers. Elgin Recycling will offer electronics recycling including computers, small appliances, cellphones, electronic toys, copper wire and more. Televisions and monitors under 21 inches will incur a charge of $25 and $35 for televisions and monitors 21 inches and over. LCD monitors will incur a charge of $15. The Fall Recycling Event will not accept hazardous waste, oil, antifreeze, clothes, fire extinguishers or large appliances. Residents with hazardous waste can use the Naperville Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 156 Fort Hill Drive, Naperville from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
