Aurora-based Diamond Envelope marks 40 years in business, earns top OSHA designation

Aurora-based Diamond Envelope Corporation commemorates 40 years of being in business this year, while also earning the top designation for workplace safety.

The Illinois Department of Labor noted Diamond Envelope Corporation has successfully achieved Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) status.

The family-owned business employs roughly 100 people and is a leading manufacturer specializing in high-quality, custom-designed envelopes for small and large businesses, including Fortune 500 companies. It produces more than 5 million envelopes per day, and billions annually for clients in 14 states.

“Diamond Envelope Corporation has proven it’s willing to go above and beyond when it comes to workplace safety,” Illinois Department of Labor Director Jane Flanagan said. “The company joins a small but growing group of companies that has achieved the prestigious SHARP designation.”

SHARP recognizes small business employers who operate an exemplary injury- and illness-prevention program. SHARP’s designation singles out a business among its peers as a model for worksite safety and health.

“We believe in the health and safety of our people,” said Diamond Envelope Corp. CEO Susan Foley, whose father, Alan Jania, started the company in Aurora in 1984.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday to celebrate the announcement and the company’s 40th anniversary.

Aurora Ward 10 Alderwoman Shweta Baid commended the business for “four decades of service in Aurora” at the celebration.

Mayor Richard Irvin issued a proclamation designating Oct. 16 as Diamond Envelope Day in the city of Aurora in perpetuity.
