Visiting Naperville city hall? Expect some security changes
The latest round of security changes at Naperville’s municipal center will require residents to check in with security when visiting city hall.
The city began making security upgrades, such as limiting outside access to the main entrance, at the municipal center in 2020. The latest changes will take effect Nov. 12, Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger told council members Tuesday.
At that point, visitors with an appointment will need to check in with security and wait in the main lobby for their appointment. Those wishing to meet with someone without an appointment will still need to check in with security, who will then call the appropriate person to see if they are available or to help the visitor make an appointment.
Those coming to city hall to pay a bill, secure a permit or other routine matters will still need to check in with security upon arrival. But residents will not be asked to sign a sign-in sheet, Krieger said.
Residents will not need to check with security if attending a city council meeting.
