Instituto Cervantes of Chicago hosts free family-focused STEM program Nov. 15-16

Instituto Cervantes Chicago, at 31 W. Ohio St., and in association with Spanish Professionals in Chicago, and Women in Bio, Chicago, and the Association of Spanish Scientists in the United States presents “I Noche Blanca de la Ciencia (First White Night of Science),” a free STEM event for the whole family 4-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16

This event is aimed at motivating children between 6-12 years old to learn about science by providing a chance to engage with renowned scientists from different backgrounds in a fun-filled atmosphere. The program includes talks in Spanish and English, interactive workshops, and is a cultural initiative that highlights the daily work of the scientific community, showcasing researchers in various topics related to their fields of study. These include renewable energy, pharmacology, the interaction between viruses and artificial intelligence, genes and senses, atmospheric sciences, mycology, virology, minerals, food science and technology, and the prevention of zoonotic diseases, among others. The event aims to make science accessible and understandable to the general public, fostering interest and curiosity in these important topics.
