Police: Grinch-like quartet charged with stealing from Oak Brook retailer
Two Cook County women and two male teenagers have been charged with stealing more than $300 in merchandise from a Sephora store in Oak Brook over the weekend.
Marisol Ocampo, 35, of Chicago, and Deysi Villalobos, 32, of Melrose Park, are charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, burglary and retail theft.
A 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male are charged with burglary, retail theft and aggravated battery, according to a press release from the DuPage County state’s attorney's office. The 17-year-old also is charged with threatening a public official. Both teens were released and placed on GPS monitoring.
“While most families were out enjoying some last-minute holiday shopping, this group came here with Grinch-like intentions,” Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said in a statement. “They soon found out that we don't tolerate criminal behavior in Oak Brook and we certainly don't stand down when threatened by criminals.”
Authorities say the four defendants entered the store at about 5 p.m. Sunday, selected items and left without paying. Additionally, one of the teens struck a store employee, and one threatened an Oak Brook police officer and the officer’s family, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors say Ocampo and Villalobos directed one of the teens to steal the merchandise.
Authorities say the two women entered the same Sephora store at about 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, and stole more than $300 in merchandise.
The next court appearance for Ocampo and Villalobos is set for Jan. 21. The teens will appear in juvenile court on Jan. 10.
