Medical event caused driver’s death in Lake Zurich crash
The 72-year-old driver of a car involved in a fatal crash Monday morning in Lake Zurich suffered an incapacitating medical event, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Paul Anderson of Lake Zurich was identified as the driver of a 2016 Chrysler 200 that crashed about 11:30 a.m. at Pheasant Ridge Drive and Old Mill Grove.
Lake Zurich fire and police responded to a report of a crash with entrapment.
According to authorities, a 2016 Chrysler 200 traveling east on Pheasant Ridge Drive veered off the roadway, struck several trees and then struck a 2015 Hyundai.
Both Anderson and a passenger in the Chrysler were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington. Anderson was pronounced dead in the emergency room, according to the coroner’s office.
An autopsy showed Anderson suffered an incapacitating medical event that caused his death and resulted in the crash, the coroner’s office said.
The crash remains under investigation by Lake Zurich police, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County and the coroner’s office.
