New year, new signs for Batavia

One of Batavia’s first projects for the new year will be the addition of three new city signs.

The project will add two new entrance signs and a monument sign for the Public Works facility, as well as associated restoration of the sign sites.

Batavia City Council members waived the formal bidding process and approved a contract with Aurora Sign Company for the installation of the new signs at their Dec. 16 meeting.

The city will pay $122,501 for the signs, which includes a 5% contingency.

The city previously worked with Aurora Sign Company on our entrance signs that were constructed in 2022 and 2023.

The entrance signs will be two different sizes. The larger one will replace the wooden sign at the southwest corner of Fabyan Parkway and Kirk Road. The smaller sign will be on West McKee Street in the city’s right-of-way west of Wilson Street.

The last sign will be at the city’s Public Works facility at 200 N. Raddant Road.

The entire scope of work is expected to be complete by the end of March 2025.
