From Spain to Greece: LaTasca Tapas to become Paréa

After 28 incredible years, Danny Barbarigos and Peter Sarantopoulos, the proud Greek owners of La Tasca Tapas in Arlington Heights, recently announced a new journey back to their roots.

La Tasca Tapas will close its doors on Feb. 28, 2025, and will soon reopen as Paréa Greek Kitchen in the same location — bringing the vibrant flavors of Greece to Arlington Heights!

Running a restaurant is one of the most rewarding yet challenging professions. According to the National Restaurant Association, only one in five restaurants achieves long-term success. Over the past 28 years at La Tasca, every plate served, every smile shared, and every memory created has been the result of countless hours of dedication, teamwork, and passion.

It’s not just about serving food — it’s about creating experiences, building community, and pouring our hearts into every detail, day after day.

“Food has an incredible power to bring people together. I’ve seen it growing up with my family, experienced it firsthand at La Tasca, and it’s the very essence of what Paréa is all about,” stated Danny Barbarigos, co-owner.

“It’s been an honor to serve you for 28 years, and we are eager to welcome you to Paréa,” added Peter Sarantopoulos, co-owner. “We’ve faced long hours, countless obstacles, and moments of uncertainty, especially during the pandemic. But the joy of seeing familiar faces, the laughter shared over meals, and the love from our guests have made every challenge worthwhile. Your unwavering support has inspired us to embrace this next chapter with excitement and gratitude.”

“Paréa Greek Kitchen is sure to thrive because of the relationships, industry expertise, and community involvement Peter and Danny have championed. Arlington Heights is sure to embrace this new restaurant, especially as it fills a void since the closing of Yanni’s Greek Restaurant in 2012,” said Jon Ridler, executive director of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce.

Inspired by the Greek concept of Paréa — a gathering of friends and family — Paréa Greek Kitchen’s vision is to create a space for connection. Whether it’s a casual weekday dinner, a lively celebration, or shared plates among friends, Paréa will bring the spirit of Greece to life in every bite, every sip, and every conversation.

Peter and Danny invite you to join them through Feb. 28 for a final taste of Spain at La Tasca Tapas. Then, prepare to savor authentic Greek cuisine and celebrate the spirit of community at Paréa.
