Montgomery man charged with gunfire incident on New Year’s Day
A Montgomery man accused of firing a fun outside his home shortly after midnight New Year’s Day now is facing charges.
Juan Sanchez, 23, of the 1300 block of Raymond Drive, was charged with the felony charge of reckless discharge of a weapon, according to a news release from the Montgomery Police Department.
At about midnight Jan. 1, the Montgomery police responded to a report of shots fired on the village’s east side. Upon arrival, officers found shell casings and live ammunition outside of a house with multiple occupants, according to the release.
Sanchez, who has a valid Firearm Owners Identification card, admitted to firing a gun and agreed to let officers search his home, the release said.
Officers found three handguns and additional ammunition during the search, according to the release. Responding officers determined there was no further threat to public safety.
